There is a great article in USA Today about "mom" punk rock bands. It made me think: the thing is, with blogging, or music or whatever, mothers are expressing themselves and their identity in ways we as a society have never seen before. It is so damn cool, which brings me back to that one dimensional NYT article again. What is so wrong with mothers having a creative life of their own? The reporter obviously doesn't appreciate or get that mothers (and fathers) are people and individuals too. Arrgggh. I could go on, but I will stop and enjoy the rockin music.

The first few months with each of our babies was, well, complex. Yes, it was a magical time, that newborn stage, but also SO HARD. It was hard on me, my husband, and, when we had them, our other kids. As most parents can attest, bringing a baby home is BEYOND a seismic shift in life, especially the first time you do it.
