There is a great article in USA Today about "mom" punk rock bands. It made me think: the thing is, with blogging, or music or whatever, mothers are expressing themselves and their identity in ways we as a society have never seen before. It is so damn cool, which brings me back to that one dimensional NYT article again. What is so wrong with mothers having a creative life of their own? The reporter obviously doesn't appreciate or get that mothers (and fathers) are people and individuals too. Arrgggh. I could go on, but I will stop and enjoy the rockin music.
The first few months with each of our babies was, well, complex. Yes, it was a magical time, that newborn stage, but also SO HARD. It was hard on me, my husband, and, when we had them, our other kids. As most parents can attest, bringing a baby home is BEYOND a seismic shift in life, especially the first time you do it. Check out this wonderful post from Metro Dad about his first 12 weeks with Peanut. It is right on. And while your at it, vote for him for Best Daddy Blog at the BoBs.
