Some posts I've read on the topic claim women don't pay enough attention to politics and issues because they're domesticated into passivity and let their husbands run the show. Imagine!

The bottom line to me is that our culture, as the narrator suggests and Sylvia Hewlett wrote about in her early work, just does NOT value children and child rearing in policy terms. We raise kids IN SPITE of the system, not with its help. Thank goodness for fierce fighters like you who keep reminding us -- and everyone else.
